Open Arts Objects

Client

The Open University

For this project, Morphology Media worked closely with Dr Leah Clark, lead art historian from the Open University, to create a series of films that has since inspired many other platforms. Our challenge was to maximise our output and the number of films we could produce for the allocated budget.

Open Arts Objects is an open-access series of over 50 short films, each spotlighting a unique work of art—from paintings and sculptures to thought-provoking installations. Filmed at iconic locations across the UK, the series features expert insights from curators and art historians. Highlights include Windsor Castle, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum, the National Museum of Wales and the Wallace Collection.

Started in 2016 by the department of Art History at the Open University, the project provided free open-access films and teaching materials to support the teaching of Art History at A-Level, as well teaching the general public on how to look closely at a wide range of works of art. Nominated for a THE award in 2019.
